Saving American Aluminum Jobs

Issue.
China’s aluminum overcapacity deflated global prices and threatened industries across the U.S.

Action.
Mark Duffy worked to educate the public and key policy makers across the globe on Chinese overcapacity. As part of this process we established a third-party coalition that ran a multi-platform international campaign, including media engagement, video, digital, stakeholder engagement events in DC and London, as well as polling and TV interviews.

Results.
The strategic campaign led to the U.S. government moving forward with a World Trade Organization (WTO) case against China and the imposition of a broad comprehensive tariff to help save American manufacturing jobs.

We secured a front-page story in The Washington Post in addition to articles in outlets such as Bloomberg, Reuters, The Economist, The Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Also we secured dozens of TV interviews on CNBC, Fox Business, and Fox News as we educated key decision-makers on the importance of policy solutions that put American workers first.
